Science and Technology Studies Graduate Student Organization
The Science and Technology Studies Graduate Student Organization (STS-GSO) is a voluntary student group organized to discuss issues of relevance to the pursuit of degrees in the STS program. The STS-GSO annually elects STS graduate students to sit on the following committees:
- The Science and Technology Studies Policy Committee (Two voting positions: 1 M.S. student representative, 1 Ph.D. student representative)
- The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Steering Committee (One non-voting position)
- The Preliminary Examinations Committee (One nonvoting position, filled on an ad hoc basis)
- The Graduate Student Assembly (Two representatives)
The two representatives to the STS Policy Committee serve as the organizers of the GSO for the year that they are elected. In addition to these positions, the GSO also elects a secretary for the recording and distribution of meeting minutes.
The GSO maintains a website and a listserv. The listserv is open to all STS students on the Blacksburg and Northern Virginia campuses. To subscribe to the list, please send a message to the list owner.
